Flood-Related Debris Disposal Options

Duluth, MN-WLSSD’s Emergency Curbside Flood Debris Removal Program has concluded.  Residents in the St. Louis County portion of the WLSSD service area still needing disposal for flood-related debris are advised to consider the following options:

Kitchen Waste and Spoiled Foods:

Residents disposing of kitchen waste, spoiled foods, and other standard household wastes should be disposed of in the resident’s garbage cans serviced by their regular trash hauler.

Household Hazardous Wastes:

Household Hazardous Wastes can be brought free of charge to WLSSD’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility on 27th Avenue West and the Waterfront in Duluth.  The facility is open year round Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Many of these facilities will charge a fee for disposal.  Area residents should contact the WLSSD HOTLINE at 218-722-0761 with questions about proper disposal.

Residents who need assistance moving items out of basements or other structures or transporting materials to a disposal site should call the Volunteer Reception Center of Greater Duluth at 218-499-9480 for assistance.  Volunteers are ready to help and can move and transport materials for those who need assistance.

The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides regional solid waste services for northeastern Minnesota and operates it wastewater treatment plant in Lincoln Park-Duluth.
