Sewer Cleaning Project Causes Temporary Road Closures, Parking Restrictions
DULUTH, MN-Portions of West First Street and North 23rd Avenue West in Duluth will be closed next week beginning Tuesday, September 3 as Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) clears debris obstructing sanitary sewers in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Road closures are expected to last two to five days and are as follows:
- First Street will be closed between 22nd and 23rd Avenues West, and
- North 23rd Avenue West will be closed between the Superior Street and First Street alleys.
During the road closure, parking will not be permitted on North 23rd Avenue West between the Superior Street alley and First Street.
These road closures are necessary to allow WLSSD to remove debris that has accumulated in WLSSD’s sewer lines. Temporary sewer pipelines will be in place to provide uninterrupted sewer service during the debris-removal project.
Residents and businesses will be allowed access to their properties throughout the duration of the closures via nearby alleys. No through traffic will be allowed on the affected roads. Drivers in the area are advised to seek alternate routes and all travelers in the area are advised to use caution, slow down and obey signage in the work area.
Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides award-winning wastewater and solid waste services to residents, businesses and industries within its 530 square mile legislative boundaries in Southern St. Louis and northern Carlton counties, and is a nationally recognized leader in pollution prevention.
