WLSSD Telephone Service Outage Continues
DULUTH, MN – A telephone service outage to Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) facilities continues for a second day. Community members are urged to contact WLSSD via email and a cellular telephone set up for the situation. The telephone outage affects all inbound and outbound calling, including WLSSD’s Information Hotline. Contact with WLSSD can be made via info@wlssd.com or 218-393-5348.
“Many community members contact us every day for assistance with general and hazardous waste questions,” said Karen Anderson, WLSSD’s director of community relations. “We are very concerned that area residents and businesses have not been able to contact us. We’ve set up a temporary telephone line so we can help those who need us. We appreciate the public’s patience during this unexpected problem.”
Additional temporary communication services are in place for critical operations to ensure all WLSSD services will be safe and uninterrupted.
WLSSD communication service and infrastructure providers had been working on the issue when problems began to occur Wednesday, and then the complete outage happened early yesterday morning. Service providers cannot predict when the telephones will be restored.
Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides award-winning wastewater and solid waste services to residents, businesses and industries in 17 communities within its 530 square mile legislative boundaries in Southern St. Louis and northern Carlton counties, and is a nationally recognized leader in pollution prevention.
