What We Take

Resource Renew Compost Grant-Exchange Form

The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD), represented publicly by its brand Resource Renew, has a limited supply of compost available annually to grant to organizations interested in amending soils and improving garden productivity. In exchange, we ask for support in promoting the many benefits of compost.

Please read the eligibility requirements and check the boxes below:(Required)

Applications are considered beginning in January. Decisions are made on a rolling basis until the grant-designated compost supply is depleted; a new application is required each year.

Grants are given to nonprofit organizations only. Grants are not given to individual gardeners.

Preference is given to gardens within WLSSD boundaries (see http://wlssd.com/about-us/ for a list of communities) but nearby communities may also be eligible.

Grantee must arrange pick-up and transport of compost.

Grantees will display a small Resource Renew Compost sign (provided) in or adjacent to growing beds for one year.

Send us photos! The State Auditor requires that we document this exchange, and we love to see the wonderful results.

We need to know the approximate dimensions, in square feet, of the area to be amended and your goals. Will you grow vegetables, flowers, trees, etc.? What is your soil like currently, and has it been amended before? This information helps us determine how much compost you might need and how it is best applied.
