On the Water Trail
Over the summer, WDSE reached out to WLSSD to participate in a series of video shorts about the St. Louis River Watershed. We said “SURE!” and we are so glad we did!
The 6-part series is hosted by Emily Lockling, student researcher from Fon du Lac Tribal and Community College. Emily interviews regional experts in order to dig deeper and to explore questions about the history, science, and people that have shaped the St. Louis River waterway.
WLSSD is featured in Episode 3, which mentions the pollution problems impacting the river that led to WLSSD being legislated into existence as the wastewater treatment authority for our 530 square mile district. You can learn about our wastewater treatment process in this episode, and the difference it has made for the recovery of the river.
In Episode 4, our Director of Environmental Services, Julie Macor, is interviewed about mercury pollution and the steps WLSSD has taken to find solutions.
WDSE released the videos on YouTube on December 15th. Check them out – you’ll be glad you did! There is a lot of great information packed into the 5-8 minute segments. You can also go directly to the WDSE website to find more information about the series. On the website, one episode will be released each week along with related discussion questions. The series will also be aired on television starting in January.
