WLSSD Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Options for Flood Cleanup
Duluth, MN–To further flood clean-up efforts in the area, the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) will conduct household hazardous waste collection events on Monday, July 2 and Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Duluth West Toolhouse, 2407 Commonwealth Avenue, Duluth and the Fond Du Lac Community Church, 521 131st Avenue West, Duluth from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The collections are intended for the removal of flood-damaged household hazardous waste in order to protect public health and safety. Bring flood damaged solvents, paints, pesticides, chemicals, aerosol cans, fluorescent tubes and bulbs and other hazardous waste to this event. Household hazardous waste is not included in the Emergency Curbside Flood Debris Collection Program.
Residents may also bring these materials to WLSSD’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 27th Avenue West and the waterfront, open year-round Thursday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or through July 19 only to the Materials Recovery Center on Rice Lake Road during open hours.
The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides regional solid waste services for northeastern Minnesota and operates it wastewater treatment plant in Lincoln Park-Duluth.
