WLSSD Materials Recovery Center to Close for Repairs
DULUTH, MN—Western Lake Superior Sanitary District’s Materials Recovery Center (MRC) will temporarily close next week on Tuesday, October 15 through Thursday, October 17 to repair the driving surfaces at the site.
“We realize that thousands of area residents rely on the Materials Recovery Center for recycling and disposal,” said Karen Anderson, WLSSD director of community relations. “We appreciate that so many residents want to dispose of their materials properly. Unfortunately, we have some significant damage to the driving surfaces at the MRC and must temporarily close the site to ensure safety and efficiency.”
During the site closure, WLSSD officials recommend residents and businesses use one of several alternate permitted disposal options available locally:
Demolicious
Normandy Roll-off & Disposal
VONCO V/Veit Landfill
Core Advantage –AARolloff
City of Superior Landfill
Duluth Landfill Superior
Some local garbage haulers will provide pickup services for some bulky wastes and offer dumpster rental for larger jobs. Contact them to arrange for temporary roll-off or dumpster placement during your clean-up project.
The Materials Recovery Center will reopen to the public on Friday, October 18th. Normal hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday (closed for major holidays).
