WLSSD to Re-Open Yard Waste Site for One Final Day This Season
Duluth, MN – Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) will make its Yard Waste Compost Site available for one final day Saturday, November 25 to accommodate residents who are still working on fall yard cleanup. The site will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for one day only.
“It’s been quite an unusual fall with warmer temperatures and then early snow,” said Heidi Ringhofer, WLSSD director of solid waste services. “We’ve heard from many area residents that their leaves have only now completely fallen from their trees. With a warm-up later this week, we’ll open the Yard Waste Compost Site to provide people with one last opportunity this season to get their gardens cleaned out, leaves raked and yard materials dropped off at our site.”
WLSSD reminds residents to be prepared to empty bagged yard waste when delivering to the site, and to cover truck and trailer loads of yard waste to prevent the spread of invasive weeds.
Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides award-winning wastewater and solid waste services to residents, businesses and industries within its 530 square mile service area in Southern St. Louis and northern Carlton counties, and is a nationally recognized leader in pollution prevention.
