About Board meetings:
Nearly all regular Board and committee meetings are open to the public. Exceptions only occur as provided by law (such as meetings about sensitive personnel, legal, or labor relations issues).
The Board uses a traditional agenda and Robert’s Rules of Order to operate its meetings. The established agendas do not customarily allow for a public comment period. In the event that a member of the public requests the opportunity to comment to the Board, the Board may consider suspending the regular agenda to allow for this. Requests to comment on regular agenda items should be addressed to the Chair, recording secretary or other staff.
Occasionally, a public hearing is required for certain Board actions such as budget approvals, permit issuances, ordinance revisions, etc. Public hearing agendas allow for public comment on proposed board actions. A time limit may be announced for individual comments.
Board business that requires longer presentations and discussion is sometimes handled through committee meetings, although no official Board action can be taken.
